Insurance
- How do Workers Compensation Authority’s determine the difference between a worker and a Sub-Contractor?
- Are all the workers on your site covered with the correct insurance cover for workplace injuries?
- Do your systems allow you to collect the information that verifies they are?
- Do you understand how one serious injury can impact severely on your premiums?
- How well do you protect yourself against avoidable insurance claims, fraud and litigation?
We are used to working with businesses of all sizes and can explain to you without the jargon how the workers compensation scheme works. We can also assist you with information regarding your workers compensation insurance needs, what records you need to keep and what to do if you suspect a claim is a sham. Our strategies will also help you to reduce these risks.
Injury Management
- Is your injured worker receiving the medical/therapeutic treatments they are entitled to?
- Does their treating Doctor seem to be unsure of what suitable duties the injured worker is capable of performing?
- Has the Doctor failed to recommend any treatment or further investigation despite the fact your injured worker does not appear to be recovering from their injury(s)?
- Is your injured worker claiming their injury is not getting any better after multiple visits to doctors and therapists?
We are equipped to discuss strategies with you to assist your injured workers where the system appears to be letting them down. One of the objectives of Queensland’s Workers Compensation and Rehabilitation System includes returning injured workers back to their pre injury work or meaningful work as soon as their treating doctor says it is safe to do so. If progress doesn’t appear to be happening, we can arrange to meet with you to discuss some of the reasons why this may be occurring as well provide you with some strategies to get things moving.
Claims Management
- Are you aware of your obligations and common law risks once a workers compensation claim has been lodged?
- Do you understand what payments and benefits are available to injured workers?
- Have you come under the eye of the workers compensation authority because your management and notification systems are failing you?
- Do you know what you should be doing to ensure the Workers Compensation Authority has sufficient information when they are assessing liability for a claim?
- Do you feel you need a second opinion about the management of your claims?
- Do your systems protect you against workplace injuries and non-workplace injuries?
- How well do you protect your company from sham claims?
Claims management is a critical business risk yet all too often the risks are severely underestimated. A claim can take a turn for the worst almost overnight for a number of reasons and if you do not have sound systems in place and competent personnel that understand the system you may find yourself entangled in a costly legal case that could have been easily avoided.
We can visit your workplace and offer individual or team coaching sessions on how to manage claims, litigation risks and problem solve any arising issues. We can also work with your supervisory or managerial staff so they know how to manage an injured workers return to work safely and positively, participate proactively in the rehabilitation process with all stakeholders, identify suitable duties and overcome any obstacles. We will also advise you were to get information about entitlements and responsibilities as well as the difference between common law claims and statutory claims and how to manage risks and claims so that your premiums do not stifle your business for the next few years.
Meaningful Work Options
Imagine if you were going about your day in a normal way and suffered an unfortunate injury.. How would you like your employer or family to treat you? What if you were not able to return to your normal job ever again and you risk losing your assets and families lifestyle because of this? Imagine on top of that you had your employment terminated and you had to tell the family the house has to go because you cannot afford the mortgage anymore. Your family turns their back on you because the stress of all these sudden life changing events had taken their toll and started to damage your relationships… imagine…could it get any worse.
This scenario happens to real people like you and me everyday.. ordinary workers. We owe it to our community and workplace to not leave injured workers to fend for themselves.
It is proven that providing genuine support to injured workers and providing them with meaningful duties whilst they recover will reduce risks of secondary injuries such as stress, common law claims and a blow out in claims costs not to mention future premiums. Like any insurance, if you do not protect your workforce you risk common law claims and being slugged with a serious increase in premiums over future years.
We can assist you with strategies to reduce these risks and can provide information and guidance on the variety of options available for returning injured workers to meaningful duties and/or employment.
Remember: One serious workplace injury can result in irretrievable damage to working relationships, families lives, the community or your company, unrecoverable premium costs, litigation or costs for individuals. Can you risk not knowing the facts? Protect yourself and your workforce before it is too late!
